D'Amore Italian Deli sits comfortably in Edmonton’s north side as a longtime neighborhood staple where Italian deli traditions meet casual dining and grocery convenience. Operating since 1977, this spot blends the feel of a classic Italian deli with elements of a small restaurant and catering hub, making it a practical go-to for anyone craving hearty sandwiches, Italian basics, or a quick meal in a relaxed setting.

The atmosphere here leans toward welcoming and unpretentious. The space is airy and bright, allowing for casual lunches or quick stops to grab a slice of pizza or a fresh sandwich. While it can get busy during the lunch rush, this bustle adds to its character as a local hub rather than feeling hectic. Friendly staff mark the experience, often recognized for keeping things moving smoothly even when the crowd picks up.

D'Amore shines with its sandwich offerings — the Italian Grill, stacked with a variety of Italian cold cuts and cheeses, regularly earns local praise as one of the best in Edmonton. Other sandwiches like the roast beef or Cuban Grill bring a mix of classic and hearty flavors. Their homemade soups, such as the risotto or beef barley, showcase a focus on comfort food made from scratch, which suits colder Edmonton days perfectly.

Beyond sandwiches and soups, the deli also features stone oven pizzas by the slice or whole pies, capturing that familiar Italian-Canadian comfort food vibe. Patrons often mention the in-store made lasagna and pasta platters, which cater to those who want a more substantial meal or take-home option. Additionally, the deli carries specialty items like Pinocchio ice cream and assorted Italian pastries, adding an extra dimension to visits that go beyond a typical deli stop.

The clientele tends to be locals from the surrounding neighborhoods who value reliable, quality Italian fare without the fuss of a formal restaurant. It’s a spot that serves well for grabbing lunch during a workday, bringing home prepared dishes for family meals, or even picking up a slice of pizza and gelato for an impromptu treat. Visiting outside of peak lunch hours may offer a quieter experience with more relaxed service.

Overall, D'Amore Italian Deli fits naturally into Edmonton’s Italian food scene by balancing a deli’s casual speed with the authenticity of a traditional Italian kitchen. It appeals to those who appreciate classic sandwiches loaded with flavor, homemade soups, and the convenience of grabbing a slice or specialty grocery items all in one place.

This place is way better than subway or any other sub place. You have to check it out. Not sure how long this place has been here but as long as I can remember. I remember the older lady that use to be here. She was so nice.

We’ve lived on the North side for some time and recently noticed this spot, and decided to drop by. The reviews are right! We each got a sandwich (Italian Grill and a Prosciutto and Bocconcini), a cream horn, a nata, and drinks. All so so delicious, great atmosphere, nice and airy, and they also carry Pinocchio ice cream! We’ll be back for sure. If not for a sandwich, ice cream or one of their frozen pizzas.

A neighbourhood staple since 1977!! Hands down best Italian sandwich in Edmonton! The meatball sub, sausage and peppers sandwich and pasta dishes are also amazing. The take home pasta platters never fail either. The service is always great but it can get busy during lunch rush. Can’t go wrong here for an amazing lunch and a reasonable price!

Visit: July 2024 Had the Italian sandwich and the beef brisket sandwich with a large risotto soup. The soup was warm and nice, with lots of different ingredients inside. The sandwiches were good, but I wish there was more filling in it, especially in the beef brisket. But overall the sandwiches were good. I would go for the Italian over the beef brisket if I had to choose between the two

This establishment is my new favourite go to all the way from the south side! The friendly staff here are so nice and welcoming and this place hands down has the best sandwiches among other food options! It’s definitely a must try!

I came across D'Amore Italian Deli here on Google Maps and decided to make a trip out there on my next visit to Edmonton. I stopped in around noon on a weekday, and the place had a good number of people inside. It's a lively place and the owner(italian looking guy)? Was very friendly. Seating wise, they have a couple tables and a counter. I sat at the counter as I was alone and didn't want to hog a table. I went with a pizza sub, ice vanilla coffee, and decided to try their Chili cheese fries. The ice coffee was okay, enjoyable, but not something I'd have again. The chili cheese fries were really good, the chili in it fantastic the fries nice. My only issue with them was not much cheese sauce. There was more stuck to the lid than on my fries, so that's a real shame. The pizza sub was good, but they use a panini press to heat it, and it did a horrible job of heating the meat and cheese. The meat was still cold, and the cheese barely melted. This was disappointing. I actually saved half the sandwich and took it home where I threw it in the oven for dinner and enjoyed it much more. I think next time I'll get my sandwich to go and ask for it cold so I can heat it properly at home. Also, panini presses just condense the bread and are terrible for heating the meat and cheese to release their flavor and fats. Wish they would get a proper salamander oven or something. I still would say this is a 5 star place because the quality of the Chili on the fries and the sandwich was super delicious when I took it home and heated it correctly.

Sooo. I have driven by this place a lot and never dropped in. But today was the day I was like hey I am going to try it out. Friendly staff and great service. Ingredient’s are fresh and this thing had a lot of flavor. It was a way different experience than Subway. I do feel way better. I asked for the Italian stacker. And this is huge I couldn’t finish it all. It was a sammich that will easily fill 2 people. The bread was crispy and soft. I will come back and keep trying a few other things. From a fresh slice of pizza to lasagna. You can buy fresh buns also. It was a little pricey but,,, it was fresh. Fast. Friendly and the food again was great. Tonnes of meat on this thing I can’t explain it. If you are looking for a great sammich. Come on over here, because they have something for everyone. !
